Hurricane Helene had plans I didn’t see coming.
I was ready to fully launch my 1:1 coaching practice—excited, motivated, and prepared. But then, life happened. Helene took our house, forced us to relocate, and put my business on hold. And we weren’t alone—our entire community in Western North Carolina felt the impact. Homes destroyed, businesses paused, lives turned upside down.
It was devastating. It is devastating.
And yet, even in the middle of all this, something else has taken shape: resilience, strength, and an overwhelming sense of community.
Rebuilding—One Step at a Time
Losing your home shifts everything. Suddenly, your world shrinks down to the next step. Where are we going to live? What do we need to do first? How do we even begin to rebuild?
For me, it meant leaning into the very things I coach on:
✔ Clarity – Focusing on what’s most important, right now.
✔ Structure – Creating a schedule when life felt completely unstructured.
✔ Momentum – Taking small steps forward, even when everything felt like a setback.
I couldn’t control what had happened, but I could control how I moved forward.
Holding Space for Others
Through all of this, I’ve continued in the leadership team with the Asheville Women’s Run Club, supporting women in our community as they show up for themselves—physically and mentally. Because no matter what life throws our way, feeling strong in our bodies helps us feel strong in every other part of life. It’s been a reminder that even in chaos, we can still carve out time for what fuels us.
Lessons in Moving Forward
Launching a business while navigating personal loss isn’t something I planned for. But here’s what I know:
✔ Structure isn’t about perfection—it’s about having a foundation to stand on, even when everything feels shaky.
✔ Clarity gives you direction when you’re surrounded by uncertainty.
✔ Momentum keeps you going, even when progress feels slow.
This is what I coach my clients through. And this is exactly what I’ve had to practice myself.
Hope for Western NC
Rebuilding isn’t just about houses and businesses—it’s about rebuilding ourselves after something life-altering. It’s about knowing that setbacks don’t mean stopping. It’s about taking small, meaningful steps forward, even when the road feels long.
Western NC is strong. Our people are strong. And through it all, we keep moving forward.
If you’re feeling stuck—whether it’s in business, life, or just figuring out your next steps—I’d love to support you. Because rebuilding doesn’t have to be done alone.
